VicHyper

Project background:

The Hyperloop is the future of transportation. It’s innovative system using pods that travel through a network of tubes in a near vacuum make it eco-friendly, efficient, time-saving and cost-effective. VicHyper is the only team representing Australia to compete in the competition final of SpaceX Pod Designing Competition held in California. VicHyper requires substantial funding to build their pod prototype and test it on a prototype of the hyperloop tube.

Our team HYPE consists of 4 students from Communication Course of RMIT were working on the fund-raising communication strategy to support VicHyper.

Target public:
The strategy primarily targets Corporate sponsors and social investors. However, much of the strategy relies on using the general public as leverage to reach our primary audience, so the general public is also targeted to a lesser extent.

Key message:
Be a contributor to human’s next breakthrough with VicHyper.

Tactics:

Our strategy is intended to change the public identity of VicHyper from a group of university students looking to improve their resumes, to a group of selfless visionaries working on the frontiers of technology to improve humanity. We also aim to gain some emotional investment from the general public and make the hyperloop a newsworthy story.

In order to gain interest from sponsors and social investors, Vichyper needs a base of people that are interested in their activities. Two of our tactics are focused on creating interest and intrigue among the general public about VicHyper, and transforming that interest into a core following through social media. Follow up tactics will grant short term media exposure, and potential investors will be immediately targeted personally to take advantage of the exposure.
