One step closer to a breakthrough for humanity.
VicHyper - a multidisciplinary team of RMIT students - is leading the next generation to mark another turning point in human's history by bringing a new means of transportation into existence - the Hyperloop. They are participating in the SpaceX competition to design a pod for use in the hyperloop that is quick, cost effective and environmentally friendly.
Revolutionising the future of transport, the Hyperloop is a vacuum tube network, in which passengers sit within the pod travelling at the speed of sound (1200 km/h). Such speeds considerably enable time saving between cities, and the system could be fully solar powered to reduce carbon emissions.
VicHyper is a team comprised of RMIT engineering students who share the dream of applying their knowledge and skills in a way that contributes to the evolution of humanity. In the previous round of the competition, VicHyper won the Braking System Technical Excellence Award in Texas, and is now fundraising to build a functional prototype that can be tested in the next stage of the competition.
VicHyper is not just in the competition to win it, they want to help do something bigger; show the world that the concept works and is worthy of being scaled up to a full scale working model, powerful enough to influence the future of our species. Zachary McLelland, the group leader, spoke on behalf of his team: “We were more interested in something that would help change the world, than in something that would win a competition".

Such a triumph could not be achieved without a huge level of support; VicHyper is going striving to increase to reach it’s funding goals so it can produce the best possible prototype with a minimal risk of failure. People are just beginning to comprehend the huge impact this innovation will have on the world. Mia, an organisation established to help companies communicate confidently with the government, has already taken action to be a part of the project. “After hearing all this, it was a no brainer for Mia to become a sponsor to support VicHyper's journey to the track phase of the competition. Not only are they making influential industry contacts and gaining important technical experience, but they are helping to put Australia - Melbourne - on the map as advanced technology leaders".
